And now we enter Generation 2! How will Azalea bring honour to the family? Will she join the Chinese army and defeat the Huns? Or will she capture the Avatar?
I started watching Arcana Famiglia and Luca is my favourite character right now. He’s just so cute! Aaahhh! I’m not going to lie the only reason I even wanted to watch the show was because of Nakamura, Sugita, Noto and Yonaga. I fell in love with Yonaga during Xillia; like, I watched Oofuri and I know he’s the main character in that, but he was just so…whiny? I don’t know, his character just got on my nerves a lot in that show hahaha.
Last time on the Summers legacy…
Azalea and Clementine got married to Stanley Bachelor and Jamal Keaton respectively; Bryony, upon seeing how happy her daughters are, decided not to go back to Cake Island, preferring to stay in Sunset Valley with her family.
Nyra was the first to fly the coop and purchase a seaside house; she is soon joined, however, by Clementine and Jamal. Meanwhile, Clementine decides to join the local crime organisation, only to be found out by Stanley, who debates on whether to confront his wife about her obsession.
At first, the newlyweds were quite grateful for the week of leave their employers granted them, but soon they started to feel quite bored with the monotonous life. Azalea spent her days watching the Food Network and laughing whenever Gordon Ramsay cussed someone out, while Stanley lounged about reading the newspaper. He had managed to find himself a job at the local diner, and though it didn’t pay very well, he found it was quite fun and interesting. Unfortunately, he had only gone for a day before his employer decided to give him a week off as a late wedding present.
Thunder was a very traditional unicorn, who believed that one’s master needed to be innocent and kind, just like his own Bonded, Bryony. He didn’t approve of the fact that Heartwood had set someone’s house on fire, even if it was someone who had hurt their Bonded family.
“I don’t want you doing that over again,” Thunder warned Heartwood seriously. “We have to use our powers to protect our masters and not to help them enact revenge, especially when you could have killed a man.”
“But he’s not a very nice human,” pouted Heartwood.
“All the same, Heartwood, we have to use our powers for good. Even if Azalea orders you, never use your powers to harm a human being.”
This picture speaks for itself, really.
The next day, Azalea decided to go visit her sisters in the Summers branch house; it was quite nice, though Azalea personally thought it looked a bit too old-fashioned for her.
“Yes, coming, who is – oh, it’s you!” To Azalea’s great surprise, Clementine was looking quite pregnant when she opened the door. “Azalea, what’s up?”
To be quite honest, Azalea felt like it was a loss on her part; she had met Stanley before Clementine met Jamal and yet they had started baby-making before them.
As if sensing what Azalea was thinking, Clementine laughed lightly. “Ha, you never change. Come on in; Nyra and Jamal are both out and it’s just me in the house.”
“So, nice place you guys have here.” Azalea said politely. Clementine inclined her head slightly in agreement. “So, Clem, how’s been Nyra and Jamal?”
“Nyra’s out fishing and Jamal’s off buying himself a guitar.”
“Oh, that’s cool.”
There was an awkward silence; though things had gotten better between the sisters during high school, they were still not exactly friends and had no idea what to chat about. Then, Azalea thought of something.
“Oh, hey, Clementine, did you know that the unicorns could set things on fire?”
“Oh? I didn’t know that.”
“Yeah! Oh, gosh, it was crazy! Like, I look away for a few seconds and then Heartwood’s like, glowing, and then the bush just went up in flames!”
“Wait wait wait, you mean you were with Heartwood when she set a bush on fire lately? You barely take Heartwood anywhere and the only time I can think of is that time you went to Hank’s before the wedding… and I remember Jamal telling me Hank’s front lawn had been on fire. Are you telling me that you went with Heartwood to set Hank’s house on fire?”
“… Wow, Clem, you’re going to be an excellent cop one day!”
And then Azalea ran home.
Azalea then spent the rest of the day working out, wanting to make a good impression on her boss on her first day. Stanley, after a tiring day of playing video games, was fast asleep in bed. With Azalea and Stanley becoming the new heirs of the Summers line, they moved into the heir suite, while Bryony moved into the guest bedroom, which had turned into the ‘elder suite’.
The family had bought a new dishwasher after Stanley joined the family and to their great consternation, the old appliance often broke down; at least once a week, it would start leaking and making absolutely awful whirring noises.
“Mom, the dishwasher broke down again!” Azalea yelled in frustration; she preferred the old-fashioned way of dishwashing by using the sink, and couldn’t understand why Bryony and Stanley liked the dishwasher so much.
Bryony hurried out from her bedroom where she had been researching a new experimental treatment and let out an angry sigh when she saw puddles of water everywhere. “Oh, this dratted thing,” she muttered as she began to tinker away at it while Azalea retreated back into the dining room where she was eating a late lunch of spaghetti.
Although it had usually fallen to Bryony to fix up the dishwasher, and other objects around the house, whenever they broke, she was not exactly the best repairman and often ended up giving herself a nasty shock.
“Geez, Mom, you alright?” Azalea asked; she had gotten used to seeing her mother in such a state around the house although she was a little worried now that Bryony was getting on in her age.
“Yes, yes, I’m fine, don’t worry about me,” Bryony assured her daughter as she hurried off into the bathroom to get cleaned up.
Contrary to popular belief, Azalea was not a bad daughter at all; she abandoned her lunch briefly when she heard the shower running and fixed up the dishwasher by herself.
Azalea found out she was pregnant a few days later with Stanley’s child; both Stanley and Bryony were extremely elated at this news and kept a close eye on Azalea in case she tried to sneak a few hours on the treadmill.
Knowing that Azalea suffered from frequent backaches due to her pregnancy, Stanley often gave her massages. It was very sweet and romantic, and Bryony was very happy for the two of them; she was proud of her daughter for finding such a wonderful husband.
As a very accomplished and experienced doctor now, Bryony used her considerable skills and knowledge to help Azalea with her pregnancy. Azalea, having heard stories of doctors recently discovering a way to predict the gender of an unborn baby by using physical signs on the mother, decided to ask Bryony about this.
“No, those are old-wives’ tales!” scoffed Bryony. “If you want to know for certain, you’re going to have to go down to the hospital.”
“That’s fine,” said Azalea. “I don’t mind a surprise, or an educated guess.”
There was a pause as Bryony thought about this. “Well, this is just based on some of the symptoms you’ve been showing, and an old Patisserian belief, but I think you’ll be having a girl!”
Although Azalea wasn’t exactly affected by the news, considering she didn’t care either way, Stanley was quite horrified with the whole affair. Having grown up in a house where the show was run mostly by his mother Lisa and his aunt Bella, he had been hoping for a different, perhaps a more gender-balanced, household with the Summers. He hadn’t expected on the Summers family to be so susceptible to having daughters.
Stanley, who was on quite good terms with Clementine’s husband Jamal Keaton, received a text one night that Clementine gave birth to a boy named Deandre Summers. He was heartened by this little tidbit of information; if Clementine became the mother of a son, then perhaps Azalea, as a triplet of Clementine, would give birth to a boy as well. With new hope in his heart and a spring in his step, Stanley frolicked off to share the good news with the family.
Having been quite an aspiring artist during high school, Stanley naturally became the official portrait painter for the Summers family; Stanley didn’t quite understand why Bryony was so insistent, but she claimed it was ‘for the future generations’. He didn’t mind, since he had gotten quite rusty without practice, and it gave him a chance to try his hand at painting portraits.
Despite Bryony buying a special air freshener that was supposed to help relax the mind and aid in meditation, pregnancy and maternity leave wasn’t doing wonders for Azalea’s mood. She wanted to work and being stuck at home with what felt like a watermelon lodged in her stomach was never a good alternative.
Stanley, trying to wash up after dinner, broke the sink and promptly had a minor freakout session in the kitchen alcove; it was nice to see that he hadn’t worked on trying to overcome his incompetence in the face of disaster.
Azalea was too busy being in labour to notice that Stanley broke the sink; not wanting to get in trouble with his new family so soon after marrying into it, Stanley really wanted to fix the sink before anyone noticed, but he also wanted to take Azalea to the hospital so she could give birth in a safe environment. He didn’t lose sleep over this dilemma, thankfully, since Bryony took Azalea to the hospital without even a glance in his direction.
So he hurriedly fixed the sink, and managed to grab a cab to the hospital where Azalea had given birth to twin girls Avalon and Brooke.
Although Stanley had been a little wary of having to deal with so much estrogen under one roof, he was very taken with his daughters. Most people claimed that all babies looked almost exactly the same, but Stanley felt that Brooke had something that Avalon didn’t; he liked to play and snuggle with Brooke a lot more than with Avalon.
“Why don’t you ever play with Avalon?” Azalea asked; she was changing Avalon’s diaper because Stanley had only changed Brooke’s when he visited the nursery. Stanley looked up in mild surprise.
“I play with Avalon quite often, really.”
“No, you only changed Brooke’s diaper and not Avalon’s, which is why I’m here.” Azalea countered, annoyed.
Stanley looked genuinely surprised. “Huh, I never noticed! I just really really like playing with Brooke and sometimes, well, Avalon might get a little neglected. I’m only one person, you know.”
Azalea huffed angrily as she bundled Avalon in the baby blanket and set her back down in the crib. “Well, next time you’re here to play with Brooke, take care that you play with Avalon too, please?”
Fortunately for Avalon, she has a very caring grandmother; Bryony loved to play with Avalon considering Stanley tended to neglect her for Brooke. Bryony loved her granddaughters equally, and couldn’t understand how Stanley could be so engrossed in one of them that he would forget the other. They were both such charming little babies and they never made a fuss.
Azalea, who was desperate to become Sunset Valley’s new Empress of Evil, worked out constantly to try and get back into shape after her pregnancy. Her accomplices at the Organisation had been delighted when they heard that she had just given birth to twin girls, and congratulated her heartily. She would be going back to work next week and she was already feeling out-of-shape.
“Honey, give it a rest, you’ve been on that thing since this morning!” Stanley complained to her as he fluffed his pillows and prepared for bedtime. Azalea ignored him, focusing on her breathing and trying to ignore the burning in her legs. “Why don’t you go get a drink of water, and play with the girls? You’ve hardly been to the nursery to visit them.”
“Well, Stanley, we can’t all be satisfied with an entry-level job at a diner. Mom’s getting old and I have to get the promotion this week if we want to pay the bills.” Azalea snapped crossly, though she did power down the treadmill.
Having grown accustomed to Azalea’s natural crabbiness, Stanley just shrugged good-naturedly and settled down to sleep.
Despite Azalea insulting his job and lack of motivation the night previous, Stanley loved his job at the diner; although he didn’t get paid very well, he greatly enjoyed the fragrance of cooking and the rowdy atmosphere.
Bryony absolutely adored the nursery; it had been her who designed and bought everything from the store, though Stanley had been the one who did the actual redecoration. She spent every single minute of her free time playing with the toys while the babies slept.
The day before Azalea had to return to work, both Bryony and Stanley had left the house for business, leaving Azalea at home with the twins. Normally she quite despised babysitting duty, preferring to exercise or troll on forums, but she was feeling rather sore from practically running a marathon on the treadmill the previous night, and so she decided to stay in the nursery with the babies.
That was when she noticed that Bryony must have bought some candy for the babies; Avalon was clutching a lolly tightly in her small fist and Azalea was struck with a horribly brilliant idea.
“Hey, Avvy! It’s me, mommy!”
Avalon cooed and raised a chubby fist in the air; it was adorable but Azalea was not moved.
“Hah! Gotcha! And you’re welcome for teaching you your first lesson about the real world,” laughed Azalea as she snatched the lolly right out of Avalon’s grasp. “Life ain’t gonna be Winnie the Pooh and cupcakes forever, girl.”
Avalon just cried and cried and cried.
The next day was Azalea’s first day back and she was very delighted to be causing misfortune around town again, and get paid for doing so. Now that Bryony was getting older, and Stanley bringing back very little money from his job, Azalea knew she had to do something a little more drastic to earn her promotions. She began to start a new plot: this time, it wasn’t a personal vendetta, but a slightly more strategic one that would no doubt earn her a higher place in the Organisation…
Brooke, like Azalea, strongly inherited Bryony’s Patisserian genes, though the lovely amber of her eyes were from her father. She was insane and eccentric, though these particular traits haven’t started to show too strongly in her.
Avalon was the opposite of Brooke, in the sense that she inherited her father’s hair but her mother’s eyes. Like her aunt Clementine, she was quite the musical prodigy, though she was far more interested in the xylophone than Clementine ever was.
“It’ll be nice to finally have a musician in the family,” Bryony sighed rather dreamily when she heard the sounds of Mary Had A Little Lamb slowly but surely sound from the nursery. “Clementine was never interested in a musical career, but it would be very nice to have a musician for a granddaughter.”
Chapter 2.1 is ready~
I added a new little side-plot for Azalea just because I feel like she isn’t being evil enough despite her being 1) a criminal, 2) an aspiring Emperor of Evil, 3) she’s both a mean-spirited and evil Sim, and 4) Azalea being friendly with everyone seems very OOC.
I really like how accurate the ‘Check Baby’s Gender’ interaction doctors have is haha. I was expecting Bryony to be completely wrong and like, three boys come popping out of Azalea, but nope, she’s got two girls.
Stanley seriously keeps rolling wants regarding Brooke (snuggle her, pick her up, play with her et cetera) and none involving Avalon and it’s seriously bumming me out that he’s already picked favourites. It’s a little funny considering last time I checked, Stanley interacts with Brooke more but Brooke’s relationship with Azalea is higher than her relationship with Stanley. So I’m just imagining something like this
whenever Stanley’s playing with Brooke.
In case you’re wondering, Azalea has absolutely no wants to actually interact with her children aside from the normal picking them up for the first time wants. She does want to buy them toys and high chairs, so there’s that at least.
